Joining the London Legal League
The London Legal League is an 11-a-side league.
Any club wishing to join the London Legal League should initially contact the league secretary. You can register your interest at any stage during the season, and at the end of the season we will contact all potential applicant clubs to gauge their interest for the following season.
The league season runs from September to March. New clubs will normally be elected at the AGM in late June. The league is currently restricted to 30 clubs, so new clubs may only join if a vacancy occurs. As a guideline, over the past few years on average there have been one or two vacancies per season. New clubs join the league playing in Division 3. All clubs can expect to play 20-25 games during the season (depending upon progress in cups!).
Full membership of the league is restricted to:-
1. A firm of solicitors
2. Two firms of solicitors
3. The staff of a legal department of a local government, commercial, industrial or other organisation - the work of which department is in the charge of a practising solicitor or solicitors.
4. The members of one of the four Inns of Court.
Associate membership of the league may be granted by the League Council to any club outside the definitions above who are affiliated to the AFA and are considered appropriate for associate membership of the league, for example a club representing three or more firms of solicitors.
Matches are all played on astroturf, with games kicking off between 6.30pm and 8.30pm with a spread of games between Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
The pitches we currently used are based in Battersea (Monday 6.45pm and 8.20pm), Walthamstow (Monday 7pm and 8.30pm, Wednesday 7pm) and Wapping (Monday 8.30pm and Wednesday 8.30pm).
Clubs can expect to play one or two games in each "booking slot", so the popular and less popular slots are shared around.
